Perseid Meteor, August 13, 2015. The annual Perseid meteor shower had just about ideal conditions in 2015. There was no moonlight to compete with the meteor flashes, the sky was clear, and temperatures were mild. I stood out in the middle of a field for about two hours, and enjoyed seeing dozens of meteors streak by in different parts of the sky, with their tails all pointing back to the constellation Perseus.
This photograph was taken at 12:32 a.m. EDT. The bright cluster of stars on the right side of the image, just above centre is Perseus. There was a faint glow of aurora activity in the sky to the north.
