Perseid

Perseid, August 13, 2007. The annual Perseid Meteor Shower reached its peak of activity during the early hours of August 13th. The weather was perfect, and I spent several hours photographing the event. Although I did manage to capture several meteors with the camera, none of them were brilliantly bright.

This photograph shows one of the brighter Perseids at around 1:19 a.m. EDT. It's travelling along the border between the constellations Draco and Ursa Minor, covering a distance of about 15 degrees. This photo exposure was just a few seconds. A full hour exposure from the session is available here.
