Moonrise, August 31, 2012. Sometimes astrophotos are planned months, or even years in advance, and careful preparations are made to have all of the right equipment ready at the right place and the right time. Other times, however things just come together on their own, and unfold before us.
On this particular evening my wife and I were enjoying an evening picnic with family and friends on the south shore of Georgian Bay. We were delighted that the sky was clear, and that a full Moon was rising gracefully above the eastern horizon. Just as we were getting the campfire going to roast some marshmallows I noticed this kayaker heading our way, and I grabbed my camera.
