Lightning and Stars, June 25, 2009. While on a late night walk to look at fireflies, I noticed an active thunderstorm underway far to the north. Weather radar showed the storm to be about 100 km away, near Manitoulin Island, on the far shore of Georgian Bay from where I live. The sky above me was clear.
It was interesting to experience the fireflies sparkling in the landscape around me, the lightning flashes on the horizon, and the twinkling stars above.
Capella is the bright star to the left of the cloud, and the constellation Perseus is to the right.
