Keppel Henge, Star Trails, Fireflies, June 26, 2011. Just before midnight on this warm summer evening I started a photograph of Keppel Henge. The henge is a large, stone circle a friend and I built on the Bruce Peninsula. Fireflies were active this night, and their flashes of light left greenish dots and streaks on the photograph depending on whether they were perching on grass, or flying when they emitted their light.
During the time-lapse sequence the stars made trails in the image as the Earth rotated slowly below them. The total amount of exposure time for this photograph was thirty minutes. The camera was facing towards the south-east.
Two years earlier I made a similar photograph from in front of my home.
Here is a website just about Keppel Henge.
