Stars and Fireflies, June 15, 2007. One of the best things about living in the country is the closeness to the wildlife. I often hear coyotes howling, or owls and frogs calling when I'm out at night with my telescope and camera. Late spring and early summer evenings are good for fireflies, and on this night the field in front of my home was alive with flickering light.

The type of firefly here is a Photuris sp.
