Comet Panstarrs, March 16, 2013. Little Comet Panstarrs wasn't the most dramatic comet we've seen, but it was brighter than most in recent years. Making its first journey into the inner solar system from the Oort Cloud at roughly a right angle to the orbital plane of the planets it was hard to predict just how bright it would be as it looped around the Sun. For Northern Hemisphere observers it reached naked eye visibility in mid-March of 2013.
This photograph was taken near my home on the Bruce Peninsula, looking across part of Georgian Bay after sunset.
