Comet Hale-Bopp, March 31, 1997. This beautiful comet cruised across our skies in the spring of '97. I observed it and photographed it every chance I could get. In this dark sky image, notice the faint blue ion tale that is separate and above the brighter dust tail. My neighbour's home, about half a km away is to the lower right.
