northern lights and meteor

Aurora and Taurid Meteor, November 4, 2015. My main goal on this night of photography was to capture an moderately bright northern lights display that was underway in the sky north of my home in rural Ontario. A waning gibbous Moon provided some fill light to the surrounding landscape. It wasn't long before I remembered that the Taurid meteor shower was also underway that night. One of the Taurid meteors is visible as a bright streak to the lower right of centre. The photograph was taken from a road near my home at 2:43 a.m.

This photograph was featured in the January/February 2016 edition of SkyNews Magazine.
