Aurora, September 7, 2015. During the day of the 7th I noticed that satellite imagery was showing strong aurora activity on the other side of the Earth. It seemed doubtful that the afternoon clouds would clear by the time it got dark locally, but they thinned out somewhat, and the bright northern lights were able to shine through that night. I took this image from the field in front of our home in rural southern Ontario at 10:54 p.m. EDT. Aurora activity has been rather subdued the past couple of years, so it was great to see this display unfold during the evening. Astro Photography Home Page |
