Aurora, October 29, 2003. One of the best aurora displays in many years happened on this night. I was lucky to have clear skies to observe and photograph it. The camera was pointed into the southern sky for this photo, and it looks up into a curtain of light pulsating overhead. A few days earlier the sun had unleashed a massive coronal mass ejection aimed right at earth, and when it reached here a spectacular aurora covered most of the sky.
